How Wisconsin Became Cow Country
That’s the question Edward Janus pursues in Creating Dairyland, a new book from the Wisconsin Historical Society Press. Not surprisingly, it’s a CALS Who’s Who, covering everyone from Stephen M. Babcock (“The patron saint of dairying”) to contemporary alumni in chapter-length profiles (including Karl Klessig BS’78 MS’79, Laura Daniels BS’97 and several Crave brothers). “Anyone who grew up on a dairy farm or has any connection to the dairy industry will enjoy reading this book,” states Bob Cropp, a CALS emeritus professor of ag and applied economics, in a cover blurb. This article was posted in Agriculture, Around the college, Communities, Fall 2011, Food Systems, On Henry Mall and tagged Dairy, Edward Janus, Wisconsin.
